(CNSNews.com) - One of the nation's largest homosexual advocacy
groups has named a political activist as the first heterosexual
co-chair of its board of directors.
The Human Rights Campaign
has appointed Michael Berman -- president and one of the founders of
the Duberstein Group, a government affairs consulting organization --
the "first straight board leader" in the HRC's history, according to a
press release.
"This choice sends a strong message that the
fight for equality can unite all fair-minded Americans," said HRC Board
Co-Chair Gwen Baba.
"As an ally to the gay, lesbian, bisexual
and transgender community, Mike Berman brings a unique and needed
perspective to the Human Rights Campaign," Baba added."Straight
Americans are a crucial part of the fight for equality. Mike is one of
those leaders and will do an exceptional job bringing more Americans to
the table."
