Tom Reilly, the attorney general of Massachusetts is refusing to obey a request by Governor Mitt Romney to ask the Mass. Supreme Judicial Court to put a stay on its order that homosexual marriage be legalized on May 17th.
Reilly says there is a no legal justification to do this. Reilly is a potential Democratic candidate for governor in 2006.
Romney wrote a letter to Reilly, citing "the novel problems that will result if the Commonwealth proceeds with same-sex marriages on May 17 … and then our citizens choose to limit marriage to a man and a woman."
