Boy George calls gay marriage 'tragic'

http://www.soundgenerator.com/news/index.cfm?articleid=7072

"Gay unions, what is that all about? I haven't been invited to any ceremonies and I wouldn't go anyway. The idea that gay people have to mimic what obviously doesn't work for straight people anymore, I think is a bit tragic."

"I'm looking forward to gay divorces," he adds."- Feb. 21, 2006 Soundgenerator.com

WNBA's Swoopes Says She's Gay

http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/sports/article.adp?id=20051026080609990020&ncid=NWS00010000000001

"Houston Comets forward Sheryl Swoopes is opening up about being a lesbian...she didn't always know she was gay and fears that coming out could jeopardize her status as a role model...Do I think I was born this way? No," Swoopes said. "And that's probably confusing to some, because I know a lot of people believe that you are."- Espn Magazine, Oct. 26, 2005

Gay Marriage and Politicians

http://www.federalistpatriot.us

"Four years ago, while the nation's eyes were fixed on the devastation in New York City, California's Democrat-controlled Legislature attacked marriage by enacting a sweeping domestic partner bill one day after September 11. Yesterday, while the nation was still reeling from the horrors of Hurricane Katrina, the Legislature voted to blow away marriage completely by doing away with its essential requirement—that a wedding have a bride and a groom. Perhaps they're hoping that Californians are so distracted by the unfolding tragedy in New Orleans that they won't notice their out-of-control politicians in Sacramento. Gov. Schwarzenegger has the power to terminate this radical plan to create counterfeit marriage. He can either side with the 61 percent of Californians who voted to protect marriage in a statewide initiative, or he can side with the radical Democrats." —Robert Knight

quote of the week

www.federalist.com

"A new report suggests that American high school students are looking to be more challenged by their schools, but these youngsters may not meet those challenges in an ethical way. The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans has released its annual report on 'The State of Our Nation's Youth,' a comprehensive study based on a survey of 1,005 young people between the ages of 13 and 19 from across the U.S. that lets America's youth convey their perspectives on a variety of issues. Students surveyed for the 2005 report said if their high schools asked them to work harder, they would rise to meet those challenges. However, many also indicate that they are willing to cheat in order to make the grade...The 2005 survey found that, as teens deal with the pressures that accompany being a teenager and the looming challenges of the world after high school, many are now, more than ever, turning to their families for support. The State of Our Nation's Youth report states that many students said, granted one wish, they would choose more time with their families over a bigger house, more money for material things, or more time for individual spiritual pursuits." —Jim Brown

Quote of the day

"The greatest gift we can give our children is to let them know that there is a God who loves them and knows them by name. We must teach our sons and daughters that the God of the Universe is intensely interested and familiar with every aspect of their lives and wants what is best for them. Today's culture teaches even the young child that he is here by accident, and that he is just another creature on a big, impersonal planet, no different from any other animal. It's no wonder that kids today are experiencing depression and loneliness in record numbers. ... A few years ago the mantra was, 'It's quality time, not quantity time, that counts.' WRONG! Kids need a good dose of both from their parents. If we think we can spend one great hour a day with our kids and counteract the negative garbage they're getting from the culture '24/7,' we're fooling ourselves." --Rebecca Hagelin

What We Lose When We Forget What Sex Is For

http://www.touchstonemag.com/archives/article.php?id=18-06-022-f

"A parent of each sex is necessary to make the child, to raise the child, and to teach the child. To make him, both are needed because the female provides the egg, the male fertilizes it, and the female incubates the resulting zygote. To raise him, both are needed because the male is better designed for protection, the female for nurture. To teach him, both are needed because he needs a model of his own sex, a model of the other, and a model of the relationship between them. Mom and Dad are jointly irreplaceable. Their partnership in procreation continues even after the kids are grown, because then they are needed to help them establish their own new families."- Dr. J. Budziszewski, Designed for Sex- What We Lose When We Forget What Sex Is For, Touchstone

Quote of the Day

"What we know but the courts apparently choose to ignore is that identity and selfhood are rooted, in part, in our biological origins. Adopted children seek out biological parents in their quest for identity. Genealogical organizations do a brisk business as families try to reconstruct their lineage. 'Who am I?' keeps psychotherapists in new Volvos. Obviously, narcissism isn't limited to the gay community, but it is surely at the root of the current skirmish in Massachusetts. What's really behind the push for biology-neutral birth certificates isn't fairness, or equal rights, but the elimination of any biological/procreative connection to parenthood. Same-sex couples need this and, therefore goes the Seussian Logic, it is good for the children as well as civilization. Once the idea of a biological mother and father is expunged from the culture, there is one less logical impediment to normalizing same-sex marriage, which is, of course, the point." --Kathleen Parker

Words of Wisdom

As Christians we are made to feel that we must choose between our American civil rights or our Christian beliefs by many whose voices are loudest in the liberal media. On this day of celebration of the founding of our country I would like us all to be reminded of what those men who risked it all to establish a place where we could have freedom of speech said about some of the issues that we wrestle with today.

"Do not let any one claim to be a true American if they ever attempt to remove religion from politics." - George Washington

"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ"-Patrick Henry, that patriot and Founding Father of our country

"We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."-James Madison, the fourth president, known as "The Father of Our Constitution"

“ The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principals of Christianity… I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.”- John Adams

“God governs in the affairs of man. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured in the Sacred Writings that except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it. I firmly believe this. I also believe that, without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel” Benjamin Franklin, Constitutional Convention of 1787

"Sadly, it reminded me of a scientific journal article I had recently read assessing the long term effects of “age discrepant” sex on children (The Journal of Sex Research, Volume 41, Number 4, pp 381-389). For the reader, “age discrepant” means sex between children whose average age is 11 and an adult whose average age is 24. The social scientists concluded that “only half of our participants experienced these events as negative as a child, in sharp contrast to the current conceptualization of Child Sexual Abuse as uniformly negative…empirical evidence indicates that age-discrepant childhood sexual experiences are not necessarily harmful…These sexual experiences may provide these adolescents [wrong word: age range of the study is from 2-17] with the opportunity to explore their sexuality and feel affirmed by the community…”

"Within our public schools, there is a tendency to encourage homosexual activity, to portray it in a cute or favorable light. This is a considerable health hazard right now. If we encourage just one child to experiment and contract the HIV virus, then we have done
an enormous disservice to our children."

The Truth Hurts

http://www.newsday.com/news/opinion/ny-vpmoo254124766jan25,0,6215746,print.story?coll=ny-viewpoints-headlines

In a recent Article entitled: "The best response to religious groups' SpongeBob-is-gay complaint would have been, "So what?" Patrick Moore stated:

" The issue of importance is, of course, not this particular incident but the increasing impotence of American liberals. The Democratic Party is the clearest example of how progressives in this country have gotten in the habit of reacting to provocations from conservatives rather than rigorously defending a clear set of beliefs.

In contrast, the religious right has transformed what was once considered radical into an exemplar of mainstream values by sticking to their agenda. Just try accusing conservative Christians of wanting to outlaw abortion, suppress homosexuality and promote Jesus as the only true savior. What happens? They don't apologize and say that there must be some mistake. They say, "Absolutely."

American liberals in general and Democrats in particular find themselves in an awkward situation when confronted with homophobic attacks from the right, because many of these supposed friends of the gay community in fact demonstrate only a provisional support for homosexual rights. It is one thing to have gay friends and espouse messages of diversity but, when the going gets rough, few liberals will stand with gay people on principle, regardless the cost.

Tolerance Anyone?

http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art28012.asp

In an article entitled. "Tolerance Anyone?" Marcia Ellen Breeve recently stated:

"

Once again Dr. James Dobson and his conservative group that runs Focus On The Family have jumped on the bandwagon of infinitesimal stupidity. You might remember Dobson assailing the children’s movie “Shark Tale” a short time ago. According to Dobson, Shark Tale has undertones that subscribe to the Gay/Lesbian agenda and is an attempt by the gay movement to subvert Christian children by brainwashing their minds."

Ban on homosexual adoption

www.amvalues.org

Gary Bauer recently stated: " the United States Supreme Court rejected an appeal on Monday seeking to overturn Florida's ban on homosexual adoptions. The high court refused to hear the case and allowed the decision of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to stand. I found the decision of the appeals court very refreshing. The court did not give in to the politically correct agenda of the homosexual movement and placed the best interests of children ahead of the desires of some adults. Moreover, the court respected its own role and that of the legislature when it concluded its decision by stating: "The Legislature is the proper forum for this debate, and 'we do not sit as a superlegislature to award by judicial decree what was not achievable by political consensus." in his online End or Day Report. 1/12/05

Will we learn from Europe's example or will we allow it to happen here?

www.ouramericanvalues.org

In His End of Day Report for Dec. 27, 2004 Gary Bauer stated:

"Last week, a California court began hearing a lawsuit brought by 12 homosexual couples demanding the right to "marry." At the same time, a separate court denied efforts to block implementation of California's new domestic partnership law, scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2005. This law grants homosexuals all the rights of marriage, including parental status. Marriage and the family are on the verge of being redefined in a very radical way in the nation's largest state.

Meanwhile, in Massachusetts, the homosexual unions legalized there are already starting to fall apart. In what may be the first "gay divorce case" filed in the Boston area, the biggest issue - believe it or not - appears to be "custody" of the couple's three cats. In Middlesex County, the first "gay divorce case" was filed on December 2nd, with one lesbian partner citing "cruel and abusive treatment" as the reason for ending their three-month "marriage." Divorce rates among heterosexual marriages are already too high. But those of us who have followed the "progress" of homosexual "marriage" in Europe know the damage it has done to the institution of marriage and family there. Will we learn from Europe's example or will we allow it to happen here?"

"Pursuit of political reform is best exercised through the ballot box and the jury box," he says. "But ultimately, the cartridge box must be there, especially when lives are at stake. In America today, it's still considered acceptable in many places to attack gay men and lesbians for no other reason than who they are. When that happens, the victim can't wait for a police officer or a jury to try to sort things out." - Michael Badnarik -Libertarian candidate for president on his support by the Pink Pistols a gay gun rights association.

New York Times:

Public editor Daniel Okrent drew hysterical denunciation for his candid admission that The Times showed a consistent liberal bias. Robert Glatzer of Spokane responded to this revelation by asking: "Why give the right's views the same weight as the left's? Why present religiously-based arguments as equally valid?" Zack Subin of Massachusetts decried the very idea of seeking balance on the issue of gay rights: "Most people who are antigay or creationists base their views on the mindless repetition of tradition, ignorance and prejudice," he wrote. "It is appropriate to privilege tolerance over bigotry."

What does it mean to be human?

www.breakpoint.org

"The issue of what it means to be human also applies to same-sex
"marriage." It raises the whole issue of gender and embodiment.
Increasingly gender is not connected to our bodies, sex is not connected
with marriage or childbearing, and parenthood is a separate enterprise
from a man and a woman getting married. Once that happens, we've entered
a brave new world where a biblical understanding of what it means to be
human is completely fragmented. The next step is to produce children in
an assembly line in a factory. And parents-party A and party B-will have
no connection to the process"

"The Founders never intended for a handful of unelected, unaccountable federal judges to decide social policy for the entire nation. Just as Texas is not required to recognize medical licenses, law licenses, or driving licenses from other states, it ought not be forced to recognize gay marriage licenses granted elsewhere. ... Federal judges have flouted the will of the American people for too long, acting as imperial legislators instead of jurists. The Marriage Protection Act represents a long-overdue exercise of the congressional power to limit and define federal court jurisdiction. The definition of marriage -- a union between a man and a woman -- can be found in any dictionary. It's sad that we need government to define an institution that has existed for centuries." --Rep. Quote: Senator Jon Kyl

www.federalistpatriot.us

"To the extent that the traditional definition of marriage should be reconsidered at all -- despite the wisdom and tradition of virtually all of human history -- that process should take place within the realm of legislatures or citizens working directly through the ballot or initiative process. Judges, egged on by activist lawyers, have no business inventing imaginary provisions in state constitutions, denouncing traditional marriage as a 'stain' that must be washed away, or scoffing at the 'mantra of tradition,' all of which was part of the recent decision by the Massachusetts Supreme Court. Were it not for their lack of judicial restraint, we wouldn't have arrived at the unfortunate point of having to consider a Constitutional Amendment to begin with. Nor is it realistic to assume that same-sex marriage can be isolated in some states but not others, even if one finds such a goal acceptable." --Sen. Jon Kyl

Gay Task Force seeks to "terrify and torture" those with anti-gay initiatives

http://www.federalistpatriot.us/pub/04-28_Chronicle.htm

"I'm...interested in going after, politically, local legislators and leaders that have launched...anti-gay initiatives. ...[S]o that they understand not only that they're not going to win, but that there are consequences to it. We would set up a [political action committee] and go in and terrify...and torture these people, which would give me endless satisfaction." --Matt Foreman, executive director of the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force

FMA

www.FederalistPatriot.US.com

"A secular world that ratifies homosexual marriage would provide a legal foundation that would open the floodgates to civil litigation against religious leaders, institutions and worshipers. In such an environment, churches might be sued for declining to provide their sanctuaries for gay marriages, for example. Ministers could be sued for hate speech for giving a sermon on moral behavior. Churches that protest homosexual unions could face revocation of their tax exemption status. The delicate balance between church and state...is teetering on a high ledge at this moment. It's ironic that those who oppose churches' involvement in state concerns nonetheless have no compunction when it comes to the state dictating what churches can do. Even nonreligious folk should be concerned. Either we believe in separation of church and state or we don't, but you can't have it both ways. The July 12 debate is really a discussion about 'cloture' -- the process by which the Senate puts a time limit on filibuster, thereby allowing a bill to be voted on. In this case, 60 senators have to vote in favor of cloture for the Federal Marriage Amendment, defining marriage as between one man and one woman, to go to the floor for a full vote. Many senators prefer to delay voting rather than make their position public before the November election. But advocates for the amendment predict that November may be too late, that if President George W. Bush loses re-election, the amendment will be dead and marriage as we know it will be history." --Kathleen Parker

The Gay Manifesto of the 90's

http://www.sbcbaptistpress.org/bpcolumn.asp?ID=1463

"We argue that, for all practical purposes, gays should be considered to have been born gay -- even though sexual orientation, for most humans, seems to be the product of a complex interaction between innate predispositions and environmental factors during childhood and early adolescence." Alas, "To suggest in public that homosexuality might be chosen is to open the can of worms labeled 'moral choices and sin' and give the religious intransigents a stick to beat us with. Straights must be taught that it is as natural for some persons to be homosexual as it is for others to be heterosexual: wickedness and seduction have nothing to do with it."

Pro-Choice/Gay Marriage Priest Says Even the Pope will not deny Him Communion

http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2004/jun/04062505.html

Friday June 25, 2004
MONTREAL, June 25, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Rev. Raymond Gravel deserves church censure, says Campagne Québec-Vie (Campaign Life Coalition Quebec) after the Quebec Catholic priest appeared on radio program saying, "I am pro-choice and there is not a bishop on earth that will prevent me from receiving Communion, not even the Pope."

Father Gravel, a priest at Saint-Joachim de La Plaine parish in the diocese of Joliette, made the comment on June 20 on the French-language radio program SRC Dimanche Magazine (CBC-French's Sunday Magazine). Campagne Québec-Vie notes that Rev. Gravel is already well know for his dissident position, having come out publicly in favour of homosexual 'marriage'.

In addition to other kinds of prevention, we need to tell our children that abstinence is the only certain way to avoid contacting HIV. It works every time.
